How is award photography different from standard commercial photography?

Award photography is editorial-grade. Perspective is mechanically corrected (not auto-warped). Color is true-to-architectural, not over-saturated. Lighting respects the natural environment. And every file is delivered with full IPTC metadata so juries see the architect credited correctly.

Can the architect or interior designer be on set?

Yes — encouraged. The strongest award images come from architect-led art direction. We block out the shot list together before the shoot and confirm composition for each hero frame on the laptop tethered to the camera.

What deadlines do you accommodate?

Most major AIA, ULI, and NAIOP submissions are deadline-driven. We typically need 4-6 weeks runway for a polished editorial deliverable. Rush turnaround (2 weeks from shoot to delivery) is available for an additional fee.

How We Shoot Award Submissions

Four phases, four weeks. Architect-led art direction at every step.

Pre-shoot brief

Architect of record sends the principal design intent, the rooms / elevations the jury must see, and the award's submission spec. We package the shoot list.

Light scouting

For each project we shoot a daytime test grid first to identify the sun angle that flatters the architecture. Hero shoot is then timed precisely — golden hour, blue hour, or interior natural-light window.

Editorial capture

Tilt-shift perspective control on the exterior, large-format lighting for the interior, no HDR over-baking. Architect or designer welcome on set for art direction.

Post and delivery

Per-image perspective correction, true-color grade, full IPTC metadata, and award-ready file packages organized to the submission template. Re-edits free within 14 days.

Architect Credit Comes First

Every delivered file carries IPTC metadata crediting the architect of record, the interior designer, the engineer (where required), and the developer. Award juries see the same attribution chain you would print in a monograph — no rework, no captioning errors at deadline.

Licensing terms favor the architect: full submission, portfolio, press, and editorial use included. Tear-sheet portfolio packs for AIA portfolio reviews are also available.
