Yes, drone photography is worth it for many Tallahassee listings, but not all of them. Aerial shots deliver the most value for properties with significant land, unique features like waterfront, or a compelling community context that you just can’t capture from the ground.
For a standard single-family home in a dense subdivision, however, the benefit can be minimal. It really comes down to whether an aerial view tells a more compelling story about the property than ground-level shots alone can.
Let's be direct: no. If an agent or a photography company tells you every single property needs a full aerial package, they're selling something.
Last month, I was shooting a beautifully renovated but tightly packed bungalow in a central Tallahassee neighborhood. We got gorgeous interior and exterior shots with my Sony α7R V. The agent asked about adding drone shots. I was honest: "What story will a drone tell here?" The neighboring roofs aren't a selling point, and the yard was small. We’d see the street, the neighbor’s boat, and not much else. We decided to invest that part of the budget into a virtual staging plan for an empty bedroom instead, which made a much bigger impact for that specific property.

This is the most obvious use case. If you
Adding drone photography to a standard photo package is very affordable. At Estate Shutter, our packages start at just $199, and adding on 3-5 aerial photos is a small additional investment. We can also create dedicated aerial video packages.
They aren't strictly necessary for every house, but for the right property, they can be the difference between a quick sale at a great price and lingering on the market. They are most impactful for homes with large lots, waterfront access, unique layouts, or desirable community features.
Flying a drone for commercial purposes, including real estate photography, without FAA Part 107 certification is illegal. It can result in significant fines for both the pilot and the person who hired them. Always ensure your photographer is certified.
No. There are airspace restrictions, especially around Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) and other smaller airfields. A certified pilot knows how to check airspace, operate within legal altitude limits, and get automated LAANC authorization for flights in controlled airspace when necessary and safe.
Our standard turnaround time for all photography, including drone shots, is just 24 hours. You'll receive your edited, high-resolution aerial and ground photos the day after the shoot, ready for the MLS.
